Below is a list of words commonly used in literacy education. Where possible we have linked to sign videos in the NZSL Online Dictionary. For words that have no recognised sign in the Deaf community, we have created signs in consultation with Deaf teachers and NZSL tutors. We believe these new signs convey the concept

The NZSL videos used in the following activities have been signed by Kelston Deaf Education Centre (KDEC) staff members and are to be used for teaching and learning purposes. A single NZSL video has been linked to each word and represents the most commonly used sign by Deaf teachers and tutors working with students enrolled
